Paying With BOV cards pays

Malta Independent Friday, 22 September 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

When Barbara Camilleri and Alice Farrugia used their BOV card to pay for their purchases in Valletta, luck was on their side! Indeed, the fact that they used their BOV card to pay earned the two shoppers a prize with the BOV Streets Alive Shopping Lottery.

The winning transactions were made at Styles in Republic Street, Valletta and at Darmanin Footwear in Zachary Street during the second and third week of the BOV Streets Alive activities respectively. All payments made by BOV cards on any BOV EPOS terminal in Valletta between 28 July and 18 August automatically enabled the cardholder and the shop owner to participate in the BOV Streets Alive Shopping Lottery. Four Flyaway Tour packages, every week, for three weeks were made available by Bank of Valletta. Two of these Flyaway tours were won by the customer who made the winning transaction. The other two Flyaway tours were won by the merchant on whose BOV EPOS terminal the winning transaction was processed.

The winners, as well as the shop owners, were presented with the Flyaway Tours by head of card services at Bank of Valletta, John Pollacco, during visits to the respective retail outlets.

Congratulating the winners, Mr Pollacco said: “BOV Cards provide a straightforward and efficient way to pay for goods and services. The BOV Streets Alive Shopping Lottery was designed to support the concerted efforts to generate more business activity in Malta’s capital city – Valletta. The lottery sought to add value to the BOV Streets Alive programme of events and to the BOV card holders who shopped in Valletta using their BOV cards to pay.”

While congratulating the winners, Mr Pollacco explained that, “Apart from the benefits of security and convenience associated with paying with cards, purchases using a BOV Visa or MasterCard are covered by a free and automatic purchase protection insurance which covers goods purchased against theft, loss and accidental damage.”

Full details about the Purchase Protection Insurance are available from BOV’s Customer Service Centre on telephone number 2131-2020.
