Fireworks stored in a room at the fireworks factory in tad-Dwejra, limits of Mosta, exploded on Monday night, causing damage to the building but luckily injuring no one in the vicinity, as the factory was deserted at the time.

The police are still trying to establish the cause of the blast, which occurred at around 9.30pm. The fire that ensued after the blast was put out by members of the Civil Protection Department before further damage could occur.
