Scores of people have visited Opel’s successful open week to view the new Opel Corsa launched on the Maltese market. The new Corsa, with its aero-dynamic design, beautiful interior and clever engineering, is attracting a wide range of buyers, from young fun-loving urban professionals to families with children.

A fun-packed compact car, the Corsa has distinctive contours, intelligent gadgetry, five-star safety and a thrilling drive with superior braking power. This fourth generation Corsa comes in a sporty three-door version and a family-friendly five-door version. This robust, fit and energetic car is available in 1.0 ltr, 1.2 ltr and 1.4 ltr petrol engines and the 1.3 ltr diesel engine.

Opel’s open week also featured vintage Opel cars, which were on show in the showroom in Ta’ Xbiex. The classic Kadett, Rekord and Kapitan, all in impeccable condition, and sporting the classic white, green and blues so popular in the 1950s, were a real attraction, as visitors flocked to have a peek at the ever-popular vehicles.

The cars have been lovingly restored by their owners, and one could view the leather interiors, the unique steering wheels, chrome finishings and lacquered wooden dashboards that give these cars such a throw-back feel to the art of driving.

The cars retain all their original parts and the Kadetts have been restored from scratch. Back in the 1950s, these cars would have cost in the region of Lm1,000. They all have three gears – first, second and top, and have an approximate horse power of 25, with 6 volts. The cars can still be driven, as they have fully-functional original engines.

Anyone wishing to test drive the new Corsa may do so by calling United Automobile Ltd on 2132-0560, or by visiting the showroom in Abate Rigord Street, Ta’ Xbiex.
