Dubai’s annual shopping and entertainment extravaganza, the Dubai Shopping Festival, is once again around the corner. Emirates, key sponsor and official carrier for the 11th time running, is offering excellent hotel packages for Maltese travellers during the month-long extravaganza.

The packages, valid from 20 December until 2 February, start from as little as Lm24 per person per night on a twin sharing basis and provide Maltese customers with a choice of accommodation from a range of 18 select properties.

For the convenience of travellers from Malta, Emirates operates five flights weekly from Malta to Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, on Airbus A330-200. From Dubai, Emirates Airline offers the best connections to several key cities, particularly to the Far East and Australia.

The packages must be booked for a minimum of three nights and carry the option to extend. The price includes breakfast, transfers between Dubai International Airport and the hotel by chauffeur-driven car and personalised meet-and-assist upon arrival.

The Dubai Shopping Festival, initially conceived as a purely retail event, has evolved over the years into a comprehensive tourism product. Emirates seeks to promote the festival in line with its commitment to promote Dubai worldwide as a top notch tourist destination with something for everyone.

The airline’s packages are designed to take care of the customers’ every need from the moment they disembark at Dubai International Airport where they receive personalised meet-and-assist, an Arabian Adventures Welcome pack. First and Business Class passengers can even avail themselves of a free chauffeured drive from Dubai International airport to the hotel of their choice.

Departure is facilitated with an additional 10 kg free baggage allowance on return/ onward flights from Dubai. For onward-bound passengers, stopover charges are waived.

Commenting on the airline’s continued support for the festival, Emirates Executive vice president Commercial Operations Worldwide Ghaith Al Ghaith said: “Every year the Dubai Shopping Festival lives up to its promise of staging the most exciting activities for visitors. Emirates’ supports the festival as part of the airline’s mission to promote Dubai world-wide as a tourist destination.

“We have succeeded in raising the profile of the event worldwide with our global promotional activities and the rising number of tourists we fly in to Dubai every year to witness this month-long festival is proof that our value-for-money packages are a great hit with our customers.”

These DSF 2006 packages are available to all Emirates passengers, regardless of class of travel.

Over the years, the DSF has grown phenomenally to become the biggest shopping festival in the world. Apart from incredible shopping bargains, the event hosts the world’s biggest gold raffle, the world’s richest luxury car raffle and many other opportunities to win fantastic prizes. The entire city takes on a carnival-like atmosphere during the festival, with plenty of entertainment and activities for the entire family.

The Global Village, the biggest draw during DSF, will remain open for two-and-a-half months until 31 March.
