Saint James Anew

Malta Independent Sunday, 7 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Saint James Anew – the latest project forming part of The Saint James Hospital Group, was officially inaugurated earlier this month in the presence of Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono and a number of distinguished guests, including doctors, psychologists and therapists.

Saint James Anew is a rehabilitation centre to help people who are currently misusing drugs and alcohol and who can no longer control their addiction to the extent that they are harming themselves as well as their families.

In his capacity as chairman of the group, Dr Josie Muscat welcomed those present and explained that the group is continually on the lookout for new business ventures. “We are today inaugurating a centre of excellence in the field of drug and alcohol misuse, where people will be treated individually according to their addiction, while their anonymity and confidentiality will be our top priority,” he said.

Minister Debono and the other guests were given a tour of Anew by its director Caroline Twiss. Ms Twiss explained the programmes in detail and in particular the sauna

programme, where people clear their bodies of any residual drug and alcohol toxins by sweating them out of their

system, while replenishing their body with vitamins and minerals.
