Bank of Valletta, the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise and the National Euro Changeover Committee are teaming up for the organisation of a seminar tackling the euro changeover for Maltese businesses. The aim of the seminar entitled ‘Business – Gearing up for the euro’ is to raise awareness and provide practical assistance to the local business community in preparing for the euro conversion. In order to reap the benefits of euro adoption, organisations need to prepare both from an operational and a strategic point of view. Euro adoption means the removal of trade barriers, (i.e. the Maltese lira) for the full integration of our businesses into the euro area.
The seminar will bring together specialists from the National Euro Changeover Committee, the Central Bank of Malta, Bank of Valletta plc and Valletta Fund Management, who will be giving practical and hands on experience in dealing with the preparations for this important National project. Euro conversion will also impact organisations, both from an operational and strategic point of view. Mr Robert Caruana from the Central Bank of Malta shall be speaking about highlights and important milestones of the euro changeover. Dr Alex Wells from the National Euro Changeover Committee shall be discussing the recently launched FAIR initiative for retail organisation, dual display which commenced on a voluntary basis at the beginning of this year and rounding and smoothing guidelines.
From his first hand experience at Bank of Valletta, Mr. Joseph M Camilleri shall be tackling organisational preparations, whilst Mr. Peter Perotti from Valletta Fund Management shall be tackling Portfolio Management which is very important for enterprises. Mr. Victor Galea, President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise shall be chairing the seminar.
The seminar ‘Business Gearing up for the euro’ is going to be held on Thursday 18th January 2007 at 5.30pm at the Malta Hilton in St Julian’s. Attendance is free.
