New 10-week Pushing power course

Malta Independent Friday, 2 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Last year, Cynergi health and fitness club introduced pushing power classes at the Eden Arena. These are fitness exercises for mums with kids in buggies.

The physical and psychological value of these sessions have been internationally acknowledged. Cynergi invited midwives from ParentCraft Services, St Luke’s Hospital to observe the classes and give their opinion. The midwives enthused about the benefits that such exercise has in that it affords postpartum mothers the possibility of regaining muscle tone, losing weight and regaining their posture whilst bonding with their child and socially meeting other mothers. The class is also a great workout for mothers with older children.

The next Pushing Power Course is due to begin on 5 February.

Gillian Grech, Aerobics Coordinator, announced that “this session will consist of 12 classes, to give mums flexibility if they wish to take the 10-week course. They can take any 10 classes from the 12.”

Mothers can opt to take the 10-session course of Lm25 that includes a series of benefits such as vouchers and fitness guides; alternatively they can opt for the 6 sessions for Lm15 or to take individual classes at Lm2.95 each.

Classes include free parking for 2 hours. Baby changing and feeding facilities are provided. There is a crèche at Cynergi for those who have more than one child.

Pushing Power is sponsored by T’Angelina Home & Baby and by Party Princess.
