A memorable picture of some of the Malta players who had played in the 24 February 1957 match against Austria. These are from left (with white bags in hand) Eric Schembri (son of indisposed Salvinu Schembri), Sammy Nicholl, Lolly Borg, Lolly Debattista, Victor Scerri, Tony Cauchi and Joe Cilia. Also in the picture, in the back row, are David Carabott and Carmel Busuttil who were also rewarded by the MFA, the former as having played the most number of games for Malta and Busuttil for being the top scorer of the national team. The group also includes the Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi, Minister of Education Dr Louis Galea, Opposition spokesman for Sports, Mr Carmelo Abela, MFA president Dr Joseph Mifsud and Austrian FA president Friedrich Stickler
