All Animals are equal but some are more equal than others

From Mr J. Portelli

This is certainly the case in Nadur because a certain contractor apparently can do whatever he pleases.

For a long time now, he leaves his trucks parked on the road just as one leaves Nadur for Victoria. And our dear local wardens do not seem so keen to stop him either.

Several weeks ago, he blatantly closed Ta’ Grunju Street with his crane at a building site in such a way that residents living farther down the street could not even walk on foot to Nadur and had to take the round about way through Qala.

This same contractor was given or has a piece of land on the cliff near Ta’ Kenuna Tower. He dumped torba on it and has an enforcement notice on this site. It is a really a fine site to visit and tourists and locals alike (we are humans too and deserve a good quality of life as well!) go to admire the panorama from Ta’ Kenuna Tower.

And now, adding insult to injury, he has built a boundary wall on the cliff-edge, which is a sore sight to behold when looking up from under the cliff. What are the MEPA Gozo officials doing about it? Are they asleep?

Is this a small taste of what will happen if the contractor’s brother, the mayor of Nadur, is elected to Parliament?
