‘Open Verse’ At St James Cavalier

Malta Independent Monday, 26 February 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Artist Trevor Borg is presenting his latest works in the main hall at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta until 25 March.

‘Open Verse’, is the title chosen by Borg for his fourth personal exhibition and the artist explains that although this new collection follows the developmental process as in his previous exhibitions, at the same time it marks a departure from his usual approach.

‘Open Verse’ extends the artist’s visual research journey and Borg explains that through his renditions he is ‘juxtaposing the real and the imaginary in order to create reflective and meditative works imbued with symbolic meaning’.

Borg’s latest work has been described by art critic E.V. Borg as romantic, explorative and adventurous and exposing layers of sentiment, emotions and experience. Some of the works are executed in a manner that is stimulated by the artist’s graphic and artistic training characterised by order and structure while in other instances he feels free to create softer, aqueous and more organic elements, E.V. Borg adds.

Besides his participation in various local collective exhibitions, Trevor Borg has also taken part in international contemporary exhibitions in Germany, Austria, Belgium and Spain.

Borg has a new website, www.trevorborg.com which is to be updated regularly so. ‘Open Verse’ is being supported by Vascas Jewellers, Valletta Fund Management, Bank of Valletta, Marsovin and Forsite Ltd.
