Soldiers from the 3rd Regiment’s Engineer Squadron, under the command of Maj. Robert Vella and Lt John Stroud, yesterday evening moved two cannons from St Elmo’s to Castille to replace two cannons which were taken to Bighi’s restoration centre. Two cannons from St John’s Co-Cathedral were also taken to Bighi, where restoration work under the patronage of Heritage Malta will take place. The canons, which date to the time of the Knights of St John, will then be housed in the Palace Armoury in Valletta and the Malta Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa.
