Telephones Donated to YMCA Valletta

Malta Independent Wednesday, 7 March 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Maltacom has donated a number of telephone sets to YMCA Valletta for use at the organisation’s drop-in centre in Valletta.

The equipment will be useful for administrators, professionals, social workers and volunteers whose efforts and ongoing commitment target a better quality of life for underprivileged individuals and the socially disadvantaged of the local community.

YMCA Valletta forms part of the YMCA International network and is a non-profit, voluntary movement. Since its inception two decades ago, the organisation has become a leading organisation for providing solutions to such issues as domestic violence and homelessness.

“Maltacom is a keen supporter of YMCA Valletta and is proud to be associated with the strong community programmes it runs on an ongoing basis. Maltacom boasts a long history of support for the YMCA, dating back to the organisation’s early fundraising activities towards opening its shelter for the homeless also in Valletta,” said Maltacom head of communications and public affairs Franco Aloisio.

“Through this donation, Maltacom would like to show its appreciation of the sterling work carried out by the YMCA.” he said.

YMCA Valletta coordinator Mario Saliba thanked Maltacom for its support, particularly its invaluable contribution during the popular fund-raising phone-ins.

Mr Saliba was accompanied by Maria Sammut, who deals with the organisation’s fund-raising activities.
