Five short Maltese films are being shown in a European Film Festival at Cinema 11 of the Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s tomorrow from 8.30pm. The cost is Lm1, which will be in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Malta branch. The films are rated 16. There will be no intermission between the films.

The films are Winston Azzopardi’s Malta George Cross, Ian Attard’s Compete, Ian Schranz’s Dead Boy at Your Window, Edward Said’s The Hunter and Cathleen Tanti’s Ward Sixty6.

The showing will take about an hour and will be followed by a discussion on the future of Malta hosting a film industry. The speakers include Isabella Tessaro from the Directorate-General for Information Society who will speak about the new EU Media Programme launched in February and who will answer questions/comments from those present.

Other speakers who have been invited are Tourism and Culture Ministry Media Desk acting head Maria Carbonaro, Film Commissioner Oliver Mallia, Joe Debono from Studio Seven Productions Ltd and film producer/director Winston Azzopardi.
