A Worldwide network of opportunities

Malta Independent Tuesday, 3 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

Five hundred committees and over 3,300 learning centres and schools; 100 committees in Italy; over 200,000 members and/or participants in courses, including cultural and promotional activities – this is the global picture of the Società Dante Alighieri, the historical association that, since 1889, has represented the Italian language and culture all over the world.

Today the SDA has grown into an association with international roots that encompass all the positive aspects that characterise the Italian way of life, from culture to the arts, from food to wine and from design to innovation – a world of creativity. As from January, the Società Dante Alighieri began offering its more than 200,000 members in Italy and abroad, as well as new members, a series of discount opportunities in agreement with important entities and businesses in Italy.

Because of the wide interests and backgrounds of Dante members, ie intellectuals, lovers of “Made in Italy” products, students and cultural tourism, particular attention has been given to museums and hotels, as well as a number of participants from the crafts sector. The offers cover most of the Italian territory.

The Malta committee, under the new chairmanship of Martin Micallef, is striving to revitalise its cultural and educational operations locally, including the re-introduction of the membership concept that also has international ramifications.

The Malta committee is also working to provide local discount offers to current and future members in Malta and abroad. The yearly membership fee is Lm3.50, which entitles the holder to discounts on courses and SDA activities and to discounts in Malta and abroad.

Public entitles and private individuals wishing to join the membership discount scheme are requested to contact the SDA offices on info@dantemalta. org.
