Malta Independent Saturday, 7 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Children travelling onboard Emirates’ Malta - Dubai route via Larnaca in Cyprus, can enjoy hours filled with fun and games with the new bumper bag of goodies. To keep the children entertained on the long haul flight, Emirates is offering new toys in addition to the airline’s extenstive inflight entertainment package.

“The new bumper bag of educational toys distributed to children onboard Emirates flights makes travelling more comfortable for Maltese families,” said Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates’ Manager for Malta and Cyprus. “We constantly ensure the best possible inflight experience for children which also includes a variety of menu choices and inflight entertainment.”

This new range of entertainment for young travellers includes a colourful rucksack or cool bag and a new soft toy, exclusive to Emirates, called a Querk. The Querk is an animal that loves to travel and can take on the guise of various animals from destinations around the world. This lovable character comes in a soft fabric bag with one of five costumes: Salaam the Lion, Yorkie the Eagle, Sydney the Koala, Paris the Rabbit or Delhi the Elephant.

For babies and toddlers, the Querk comes in the form of a glove puppet dressed in one of the five animal costumes.

Children will also be able to read one of the classic stories from Dr Seuss. Ten of these stories in paperback will be rotated onboard during the Emirates flight. A fun and colourful magazine, called e-kids, will be distributed to children onboard. The magazine, which is produced exclusively for Emirates’ young fliers, is divided in two parts, one for readers under five and another for six to 12-year-olds.

The children’s pack also includes games, colouring pencils and child-sized eye shades. In addition to new toys, mealtime is a special treat with a children’s menu specifically designed as part of the new product.

Everything has been designed in brand new colours. The new product gives children their own livery of purple, green and yellow which is applied to cutlery, tray mats, snack boxes, headset bags as well as the toy bags.

Emirates offers a toiletry kit with wet wipes, cream, bib, teething ring and tissue pack for passengers with babies.

From its Dubai hub, Emirates currently flies to 88 destinations in 59 countries. The airline operates five flights weekly between Malta and Dubai via Larnaca in Cyprus, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on a comfortable wide-bodied Airbus A330-200. For the Maltese flying to Australia or the Far East, Emirates offers the most convenient connections from Dubai.
