Malta Independent Wednesday, 11 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

For the ninth consecutive year, Simon’s Pub in Sliema will be hosting its annual music event aimed at raising funds for the Eden Foundation.

The annual Music Festival held at Simon’s Pub has become an institution of

sorts, attracting a host of local talent and popular personalities.

As has been the case in previous years, all the proceeds from this popular event will be donated to SOS EDEN, a recently launched campaign with a single goal – ensuring the continuation of The Eden Foundation’s success by sourcing additional, desperately required funds to enable it to continue operating.

Last year, more than Lm2,500 was collected and the organisers aim to surpass this amount.

This year’s event will be held over three days. The first session is on Friday, 27 April, between 8pm and 11pm, the second on Saturday, 28 April, between 8pm and 11 pm and the third and final session on Sunday, 29 April, from 2pm to 11pm.

Everyone is invited to come along to Simon’s Music Festival, have a drink and watch top local bands performing live.

Previous performers who have kindly donated their time and talent to this hugely popular event include Retrophytes, Kartridge, Julian Casha, Pitch 99, Scar, Ira Losco, Muzzle, Cable 35, Happy hour, Stoned Joker, ColourBlind, Falcon, Fiona, Fire, Cell 109, Tony Grimaud, N.V, Boys Next Door and Beige. Also playing this year are Age of Orange from Germany.

Spot prizes will be drawn throughout the three days of the event and a number of popular local personalities will be present to hand out many of the prizes.

Everyone can help by sending an SMS on 5061-7352 for a Lm1 donation, 5061-8065 for a Lm2 donation or 5061-8912 for a Lm3 donation.

In addition, and in conjunction with this activity, various Maltese artists, including Pauline Zarb, Tonio Mallia, Theresa Storace, Neville Cassar, Claudia Griscti, Etienne Vassallo, Eric Buijs, Grace Cassar and Benny Brimmer, will be participating in an art exhibition that will take place at Simon’s Pub between 18 and 26 April. All the proceeds from this exhibition will go towards the same cause.
