Book Anniversary celebrated

Malta Independent Tuesday, 17 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

To mark the 50th anniversary of Dr Seuss’ book The Cat in The Hat, Agenda Bookshop held a special read-aloud session for its Kids Club members at the Valletta Waterfront retail outlet. With his unique combination of hilarious stories, zany pictures and riotous rhymes, Dr Seuss has been delighting young children and helping them learn to read for over 50 years.

Over 50 members took part in the session. With the assistance of the storyteller Rita A. Borg, the children enjoyed reading and animating the story of The Cat in the Hat. Each child was given a bowtie like that of the cat as well as a Cat in the Hat sticker set. Following the read-aloud the members also enjoyed playing games with Mikiel, the popular Agenda Kids Club Mascot.

Dr Seuss, the world’s best-selling children’s book author, has written and illustrated 44 books and The Cat in the Hat is the most popular of Seuss’s book characters.

Agenda Bookshops are located at the Valletta Waterfront, the Embassy Shopping Complex in Valletta, the Plaza Shopping Complex in Sliema, Pavi Supermarket in Qormi, Topline in St Andrews, Bugibba and at the Malta International Airport.
