Wine-tasting Evening for Chamber members

Malta Independent Sunday, 22 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

The Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise organised a wine-tasting evening for members and their guests in the Lewis Farrugia Courtyard of the Exchange Buildings, on Friday, 13 April.

The firms participating in the event – all members of the Chamber’s wines, spirits, Beverages and Tobacco Trade Section – presented wines from 18 wine regions and countries.

Commenting on the event, Chamber director-general Kevin J. Borg said that the evening was planned to give members involved in the production and importation of wines an occasion to showcase their products in a unique setting, while also providing members and their partners with a social event.

“We made it a point not to charge our members, but we asked our guests to make a donation to the Puttinu Cares for Children’s Cancer Support Group,” said Mr Borg.

The participating firms were Anthony Farrugia Co. Ltd, Attard & Co., Charles Grech & Co. Ltd, Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker, Francis Busuttil & Sons Ltd, Camilleri Wines, M. Demajo (Wines & Spirits) Ltd, Marsovin, NM Arrigo Ltd, P. Cutajar & Co., Paolo Bonnici Ltd, Antonio Piscopo Co. Ltd, S. Rausi Trading, Red October Co. Ltd and Wands Ltd.

The event was so well-received by the wine companies and members alike that Chamber president Victor A. Galea suggested that a Wine-Tasting Evening becomes an annual highlight in the Chamber’s diary. He thanked all the participating companies for their cooperation in organising this event and also C. & H. Bartoli Ltd, Continental Purchasing Co. Ltd (who supplied Schott Zwiesel Fine Glassware), Ecopure Premium Water Co Ltd and Villa Arrigo Ltd for making the event possible.

Buoyed by the success of this first event of its kind, Mr Borg expressed the intention to organise similar informal events to give members an opportunity to network.
