This year’s AMITEX, which is being held at the Trade Fair Grounds in Naxxar from Thursday to Sunday, sees the participation of 34 local and 20 foreign exhibitors. Local tour operators and travel agents will once again be present in good numbers, while foreign service-providers from countries and destinations as diverse as Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Libya, Nepal, Spain, Turkey, Tunisia, and the UK will also be represented.

During the fair, Air Malta will promote its summer 2007 flight schedule, which will run till the end of October. This summer, the airline will operate no fewer than 200 flights every week to 46 scheduled destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Air Malta will also be promoting the latest additions to its schedule – Liverpool, Venice and Benghazi – and its increased frequencies to Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Birmingham, Stansted and Rome.

The changes to Air Malta’s schedule this summer are:

• An additional weekly service to Munich, thus increasing to eight flights a week

• Two additional weekly flights to Frankfurt, thus increasing to seven flights a week

• Two additional weekly services on the Düsseldorf route, thus increasing Malta-Düsseldorf weekly flights to five

• An additional weekly flight to Berlin, thus increasing to three flights a week

• Services to Birmingham increased to three a week, operating on Monday, Thursday and Saturday

• Services to Stansted increased to three flights a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays

• Liverpool, Air Malta’s newest addition to its UK destination portfolio, will be served with two weekly flights, on Mondays and Fridays

• Three daily flights to the Italian capital, Rome

• Venice, another new route for this summer, will be served with two weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays

• A direct service between Malta and Naples on Mondays and Thursdays

• With effect from June, Benghazi will be served with a twice weekly service, on Tuesdays and Thursdays

• A new three-times a week service between Catania-Munich and Catania-Geneva

• A once a week service between Catania and Casablanca

• A once a week service between Reggio Calabria and Barcelona during the months of July, August and September

Entertainment at AMITEX 2007 will again focus on local talent, with Annabelle and Cliff entertaining the crowds at the fair on Thursday at 7.30pm. On Friday, J Anvil and his dancers will be giving a live show at 7.30pm and Glenn Vella will sing at the same time on Saturday. Philip Vella and his Band, together with Ludwig, will get the crowd rocking on Sunday at 7.30pm to mark the close of AMITEX 2007, with the Sprite Grand Finale sponsored by General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd.
