Bowling – Middlesea Valletta Life League: Aercomms Extend lead with big win over Union Capital Group

Week fourteen of the Middlesea Valletta Life National League at the SuperBowl, saw Aercomms stretch their lead to six points, thanks to their 8 – 0 hammering of Union Capital Group.

That was to be the only full point victory of the week, with second placed Fina First dropping two points in their win against Royal Shock, Redwell Heating losing 2 – 6 to PharmaVet, HSBC beating FireBalls 6 – 2 while Sammy’s Embroideries vs Ramis ended a four-all tie.

Aercomms made it two weeks at the top with the biggest set of the week, pummelling unlucky Union Capital in an 8 – 0 win.

They opened with a huge 874 game against Union Capital’s good 794 effort, and then made it 4 – 0 with an 829 – 788 game two win. Game three was the icing on the Aercomms’ cake as they won it 817 – 771 to seal the 100% victory.

Fina First allowed Aercomms to add to their Div I lead by again dropping two clumsy points in their match against Royal Shock.

They won game one easily with a 755 – 833 score line, and also took game two in similar style, 693 – 835.

It was in game three that Fina slipped up, letting Royal Shock steal a two point share with a 785 – 740 win, but the defending champions claimed the series points by 175 pins (233 – 2408). Sue Abela (Fina First), 621, Bowler of the Week. Clive Farrugia (Royal Shock), 529.

PharmaVet got the better of Redwell Heating to help in their strive for survival and pull themselves clear of the relegation zone.

It was Redwell who were first to score, narrowly clinching the opener 823 – 818, but it was 2 – 2 after the second game with fell to PharmaVet 760 – 799. Redwell slipped to a 687 game in the third which PharmaVet picked up with their 777 effort, securing the series by 124 pins (2270 – 2394) for the 2 – 6 match win.

HSBC got the better of FireBalls in another majority win this week, 6 – 2 also the result in this confrontation. HSBC powered past their lesser opponents in games one and two, 812 – 648 and 823 – 733 the respective game results, but then FireBalls bounced back with a 688 – 708 game three win to snatch their two point share. Ramis picked up their second draw in as many weeks, this time sharing the eight points with Sammy's Embroideries. Ramis won game one 725 – 747 for the early lead, and then doubled their advantage thanks to a close 760 – 770 win in game two. Sammy’s then rolled a good 802 against a low 681 from Ramis in game three, meaning they won the series by an 89 pin margin (2287 – 2198). Benny Hili (Ramis), 609. Sammy Borg (Sammy's), 607.
