An international conference on banking and finance in small states organised by the Islands and Small States Institute and the Commonwealth Secretariat was attended by 17 participants from small island states located in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and the Caribbean Region.

The workshop dealt with different aspects of banking and finance including exchange rate policies, insurance markets, financial regulation, risk management, and portfolio. Participants were taken to different Maltese financial institutions including the Central Bank of Malta, HSBC, BOV and the Malta Financial Services Authority and the Malta Stock Exchange.
