Appreciation: Lance Bombardier Sadia Mizzi

Malta Independent Wednesday, 25 April 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

AFM Lance Bombardier Sadia Mizzi was known by all her Service colleagues as a young, energetic and kind-hearted soldier. She was active in many sport disciplines within the army, as well as in civilian organisations. Sadia often inspired hope and instilled self-confidence in many with her bright and positive outlook on life itself.

Her contribution to soccer, netball, judo and other sports, with excellent results achieved, were complemented by her also being a committed referee. She was close to obtaining the FIFA assistant referee badge.

Sadia will be remembered as a free-spirited girl, with an angelic face yet the heart of a tiger. She will remain in the hearts of many AFM soldiers apart from those of her family.

There are hundreds like myself in the Service who, since her early days in the Emergency Volunteer Reserve Force, were lucky to have served alongside her.

When the Lord called Sadia to join his Legion’s troops in heaven, we felt proud to have contributed to her military funeral at Mosta parish church, a befitting final salute to a special soldier who will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
