Marsovin’s Chief Oenologist and Technical Manager, Philip Tonna has been invited by the International Wine Challenge in London, to be part of the biggest and most comprehensive blind tasting in the world.

This annual event that takes place at the London Barbican Centre for three weeks in the Spring, brings together many of the most important people in the wine world to a judging process to establish the best wines from all over the world. Philip Tonna, participated in this event last year as an Associate Judge. This year the International Wine Challenge management invited Mr Tonna to form part of the core tasters team, and to act as a co-chair to oversee the judging process. Full judge wine experts play a key role in the International Wine Challenge.

Mr Tonna, who has been head of the Oenological department at Marsovin for nearly 20 years, obtained his Diplome Nationale D’Oenologue (D.N.O.) in 1988 and has been a pioneer in Maltese winemaking ever since. Mr Tonna boasts the making of various award-winning wines including Malta’s first quality sparkling wine, Cassar de Malte that was awarded a Silver Model by Effervescent du Monde last December, as well Malta’s most prestigious premium wine – Marsovin’s Grand Maitre.
