The Victoria Hotel is celebrating its 10th anniversary. this year. In those 10 years The Victoria, nestling in the heart of Sliema, has established itself as a superior 4-star boutique hotel full of charm – unique elements that it blends effectively with a successful business and conference centre.

Since opening the doors to its first guest on 26 March 1997, The Victoria, a popular venue for local and foreign guests alike, has continuously renovated its administrative structure and overall environment to cater for its guests’ requirements.

In 2005 it completed a Lm650,000 extensive refurbishment project that included the installation of a 5-star standard state-of-the-art sprinkler system and the introduction of the wi-fi system in all rooms and public spaces, as well as ADSL internet connection.

The refurbishment also coincided with the restoration of Palazzo Capua. When finalised, this magnificent building was integrated into The Victoria hotel facilities, offering an exclusive combination of a functional and distinctive location and also offering modern convenience to the business traveller.

This year sees yet another addition to AX Group’s Sliema investment with the new 5-star hotel The Palace, which will be opening this summer under the management of Ms Claire Xuereb, who will be adding The Palace to her responsibilities as general manager of The Victoria.

In the last 10 years The Victoria has received innumerable accolades. These include the Hospitality Assured accreditation for the Standard for Service and Business Excellence in hospitality. This standard is supported by the British Hospitality Association and endorsed by the British Quality Foundation and the Quality Scotland Foundation as meeting the criteria in the European Foundation for Quality Management.

To celebrate this memorable anniversary, the hotel’s administration held a reception for guests and staff. Commenting on this event, Ms Xuereb said: “The Victoria’s is a success story. It is doing very well and has established itself successfully in the conference and incentive niche. In these 10 years the quality of the Victoria’s services have never wavered. We have really moved ahead, and we are proud to say that we now enjoy an excellent reputation.

“The opening of Palazzo Capua further added to The Victoria’s prestige as an ideal location in the hospitality and tourism sector. Now, the new Palace project is placing us on an ideal footing to step into the next decade with optimism and style”.
