Government Not exploiting St Paul’s Bay area

The Malta Labour Party believes that the government is not exploiting the full potential of the Qawra, Bugibba and St Paul’s Bay area, MLP leader Alfred Sant said yesterday.

Speaking to entrepreneurs who offer recreational services, Dr Sant said the MLP was preparing a plan for the revitalisation of the area once the consultation process was concluded.

A Labour Party statement quoted one of the entrepreneurs as saying that the Qawra, Bugibba and St Paul’s Bay area were not sufficiently promoted with tourists.

Dr Sant yesterday also visited the Marsa Golf Club. A Labour government, he said, would give priority to the expansion project of the club, enabling it to reach international standards.

He said the country should not waste money as was the case with the original idea to develop a golf course in Ghajn Tuffieha. Plans to expand the Marsa club already existed, he said, and what needed to be done was to implement them.

The expansion project could be carried out in a rational way without harming the environment, Dr Sant said, urging the government to show an interest in the idea.
