Feline Beauty

Once again, another successful cat show has been held by the Malta Feline Guardians Club, with the much appreciated help of main sponsor Nestlé Purina and supporting sponsors Micabliss Persians and Aroma TV programme.

An overwhelming 600 people flocked through the doors of the Coastline Hotel, Salina on Mother’s Day, to admire and be amused by the silly antics of our feline beauties. A large number of children were also at the show, competing to win the Best Mum award for their mother. TV presenter Moira Delia had the hard task of choosing her favourite two letters, which were written from the heart and were the cause of a tear or two. Moira was also awarded the task of choosing her favourite cat, which was, as usual very difficult. For the third time, a domestic cat by the name of Midget, owned by Justin May Callus, won her heart. She explained to all present that even if a cat does not have a pedigree, it still deserves to be treated with love and respect.

Once all the cats had been checked and approved by the vet, the show started, with all the exhibitors hurriedly preparing the cages for the chance to win the best decorated cage award. This was deservedly won by Margaret Glover. Resident vet Ivan Galea and professional groomer Nathalie Berry presented the public and exhibitors alike with a very informative speech regarding the care and well being of cats.

Although the day was long, and the temperature outside quite high, it must be pointed out that all the cats were kept in the best conditions possible and were treated like royalty by their dedicated owners. Micazam Milania, owned by Margaret Glover, won the category for pure breed, while Rita Scicluna’s cat Ruby won the domestic category. Casper, a domestic cat owned by George Camilleri, once again caught the eye of the public who, for the second time, voted him overall winner. Photos of this memorable cat show can be seen on the club’s website www.maltafelineguardiansclub.com

MFGC president Kevin Charles Micallef would like to take this opportunity to thank Nestlé Purina for showing confidence in the club and would also like to thank all the committee members for their hard work and dedication.

The Malta Feline Guardians Club would like to announce that it is already hard at work organising the 7th Cat Show, which will be held at the Coastline Hotel on 7 October, and is preparing for the 6th and 7th International Cat Show.

The owners of both pure breed and domestic cats are urged to start preparing their pets to enter them in these shows.
