The Victoria Hotel, Palazzo Capua and The Palace are sponsoring a series of conferences by the College of Europe of Brussels.

Each year, the students of each nationality in the college organise a number of conferences as well as a series of national events and other activities celebrating the diverse cultural, historical and gastronomic heritages of their respective countries. This year, the student body has 300 students from 49 countries, including four Maltese students, who are currently organising a series of events related to Malta.

The first of such events was a visit by Commissioner Joe Borg, who held a conference entitled “Making it happen: the real life inside the European Commission”.

The participation of personalities occupying prestigious posts particularly within the EU structure is one of the main pillars of the activities organised by each national contingent. Commissioner Borg’s visit gave students from different backgrounds the opportunity to become acquainted with the perspectives of a small country like Malta, both regarding the accession stage, as well as the role it plays in the decision-making, as a full member.

A series of other activities being organised by the Maltese students will take place in June. The college will live and breathe Malta for two days, as efforts to promote Malta’s culture is made, encouraging students and staff alike to expand their knowledge of the country and hence consider it as a worthwhile destination, be it for holidays, the organisation of academic conferences, learning languages and so on.
