Arsenal Coaches to lead seminar

Malta Independent Wednesday, 23 May 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Arsenal Malta Supporters Club (AMSC) is holding a seminar on Youth Football Development on Friday at 7pm at the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel, St George’s Bay. This event is being held in conjunction with next Saturday’s Emirates Airline Young Footballer Challenge, which is sponsored by Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline and approved by the Malta Football Association.

The 90-minute seminar will be conducted by two senior officials from Arsenal Football Club’s Community Department, Paul Shipwright, who is responsible for partnered Soccer Schools and Sports Development Officer Martin Davis.

They will be focusing on the game and professional football coaching for children based on the highly successful Arsenal Soccer Schools. Both coaches are in Malta on the initiative of Arsenal Malta Supporters Club and with the support of Arsenal FC.

“The seminar provides an ideal opportunity for all youth coaches to meet and be able to put forward any questions they may have. Thanks to Emirates Airline, Arsenal FC, and the Youth FA, we intend to hold similar seminars for the Maltese coaches who train young footballers,” said Richard Felice Pace, Chairman of AMSC. “We are delighted to help in the development of football and its overall standard.”

Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates Manager for Malta and Cyprus, said: “After a two-year break, Emirates Airline Young Footballer Challenge has made a comeback, thanks to the new support of the Arsenal Supporters Club. This is the second seminar for Maltese coaches to be held in conjunction with the Challenge and this further strengthens Emirates’ association with Arsenal FC.”

Paul Shipwright and Martin Davis, together with their wives, are the guests of the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel.

All Football Club Youth Nurseries are invited to send their coaches and admission is free. Further details and bookings can be made on tel: 7924 8635 or via email on [email protected]
