The police yesterday opened an investigation following a report that was published in another newspaper to establish “what exactly took place in the alleged incident”.

The report showed several photos of a policeman involved in an incident with an elderly French lady in Paceville, taken from footage filmed from a balcony nearby.

The police said that it had asked the newspaper for a copy of the footage.

It added that since there was no report filed by the alleged victim, the police had asked the French embassy to help it locate the woman to help in the investigation.
