Court: Company Files judicial protest against MFCC

Malta Independent Wednesday, 27 June 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

A property negotiating company filed a judicial protest yesterday against the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre (MFCC), which is responsible for organising the Inter-national Trade Fair of Malta, claiming that the MFCC had reduced its stall space to accommodate another company.

Bonsons Ltd said that it paid MFCC a total of Lm809.09 for a total of 67.55 square metres at the Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre in Naxxar for a period of 30 days, as was clearly stated in a participation agreement signed between the two on 16 May.

The company said that the 30 days included the 12-day period when the Internation-al Trade Fair of Malta will take place: 27 June to 8 July.

However, the company said that it recently discovered that the space had been reduced by 10 square metres to a total of 57.5 square metres to “accommodate” Vodafone Malta.

The company claimed that the MFCC had no right to reduce the space allocated for their stand, especially when this was clearly stated in a contract signed by the two parties.

Furthermore, the company said, any changes can only be made following an agreement between the two parties.

The protest was signed by Dr Peter Caruana Galizia.
