Court: Gozitan Man jailed for 27 months

A Gozitan man was jailed for 27 months after he was found guilty of possessing cocaine which was found in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano, heard how the police stopped Martin Farrugia, 45, from Victoria, Gozo, in Cirkewwa.

As soon as he saw the police, he discarded a white plastic bag and kicked it underneath a car. This bag was found to contain nearly 37 grams of cocaine.

Magistrate Quintano jailed Farrugia for 27 months and fined him Lm700.

Police Inspector Nezren Grixti prosecuted.
