Court: Africans Charged with drug possession

Two African men living at the Marsa Open Centre for migrants were arraigned on Sunday, charged with being in possession of cannabis resin on Friday.

Ali Gadem Abdelrahim, 26, and Abubaker Bashir Hussein, 23, were charged with being in possession of the drugs that were found in a state that denoted they were not for their exclusive use. The 23-year-old was also charged with trafficking the drug.

Both were denied bail and remanded in custody.

Magistrate Anthony Vella presided over the court. Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted and Dr Jose Herrera appeared for the accused.
