Court: Guilty Of committing a series of thefts

A man was jailed for two years and another two men were given a suspended sentence after they were found guilty of their involvement in a series of thefts between December 2000 and March 2001.

Renald Rotin, 27, and two others whose names cannot be published since they were still minors (15 and 16 respectively) when the incidents took place, were charged with a number of thefts and attempted robberies in their hometown, Zabbar, and in Cospicua. They were also charged with damaging property to the detriment of a number of people.

Rotin was jailed for two years, while the two men, who were then teenagers, were given a two-year jail term suspended for four.

Magistrate Silvio Meli presided over the case.

Police Inspectors Carmelo Bartolo and Alfred Mallia prosecuted. Dr Patrick Valentino, Dr Jose Herrera and Dr Veronique Dalli appeared for the accused.
