Court: Suspended Sentence for stealing bag containing cash, credit cards

A 24-year-old man from Hamrun was given a two-year jail term suspended for four yesterday, after he pleaded guilty to stealing a bag containing Lm50 in cash and credit cards among other items on Friday.

Andrew Bezzina was accused of stealing the bag from Splash and Fun Park in Bahar ic-Caghaq to the detriment of Ivana Restall and HSBC Bank Malta plc.

Presiding Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona ordered the accused to return the money to Ms Restall.

Bezzina was also charged with relapsing and committing the offence during the operative period of a suspended sentence.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted and Dr Anglu Farrugia appeared for the accused.
