From Mr S. Pollacco
It was interesting to note that Air Malta is retrenching its activities this coming winter (TMIS, 15 July).
After having booked a flight for our family over the Christmas period last month, my wife received a phone call to say that the flights had been cancelled and we were offered unfeasible alternatives. The only alternative (for a Yorkshire family) was to schlep down to Luton on a Ryanair flight (with a £200 saving on the original).
When are the authorities going to wake up to the fact that the marketplace has changed? We are currently planning our 2008 holidays (or should I say breaks). They will consist of a couple of weeks somewhere and long weekend breaks – probably where flights are cheap. That is the reality these days.
Whoever is making decisions, wake up!
