Malta Independent Wednesday, 15 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Two sawn-off shot-guns, a sub-machinegun and an undisclosed amount of ammunition were seized by members of the Police Criminal Investigation Department in a raid that took place in Mqabba recently, police said.

Members of the CID had been investigating serious criminal acts when they carried out the raid.

Apart from the weapons, the CID also found other items that are usually used in violent crimes like hold-ups.

The duty magistrate was informed about the case and a magisterial inquiry was conducted.

The police said they are holding a number of people to assist with the case and have not excluded that some people may soon be arraigned in connection with this investigation.
