Ripe For change?

Malta Independent Sunday, 26 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

On page 69 of the Nationalist Party’s electoral programme of the 1980s entitled “Ripe for change”, Dr Eddie Fenech Adami, then leader of the Nationalist Party, stated clearly that “there is enormous difference in the rents being paid for new houses compared with what is paid for old ones” so implying that the Nationalist Party would try to remedy this injustice. But they did nothing. Neither did the Labour Party.

Alternattiva Demokratika has declared several times that it would do something about this “robbing Peter to pay Paul”, but since it wants to follow its programme (including divorce), and doesn’t value the cultural (religious) sentiments of the Maltese people, most probably will never succeed in securing the 2000 or so votes from one district to have even a single MP.
