MTA Conference on HR best practices in tourism

Malta Independent Saturday, 6 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Malta Tourism Authority will be hosting a half-day seminar where it will be presenting the findings which emerged from a study conducted by the authority on successful HR practices in the tourism industry. The study was conducted following interviews with personnel in the tourism industry involved in staff recruitment and development, travel and catering services.

Commenting on the findings of the study, MTA’s Head of HR Development Joseph Tanti said that “it is satisfying to see that all sectors believed that one of the main benefits of good people management practices is that it is mirrored in customer satisfaction which would lead to repeat business and low staff turnover”

The study forms part of the Good Practice for Good Business benchmarking exercise which is part financed by the European Union European Social Fund aiming to provide a holistic approach towards training and human resource development in tourism and tourism-related support services.

The half-day conference will be held on Thursday at the Hilton Malta in St Julian’s between 9am and 12.30pm.

This conference will serve to exchange information and provide insight into successful HR practices in the tourism industry. The conference will also be addressed by Irish speaker Deirdre Fitzsimons who will present a company specific case study and an overview of tourism best practices in Ireland.
