Refereeing Blunders

Malta Independent Saturday, 6 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

When a player does not perform up to his usual standards, he is usually asked by his coach to pull up his socks and remedy the situation, otherwise…

When a team is not delivering, the coach is accountable to the executive committee of the respective club to whom he is responsible, and most probably has to answer to some questions.

Whenever in the opinion of one person, “the official in charge” a player deserves marching orders, the official’s decision is irreversible, whether justified or not.

Whenever an irritated coach makes his feelings known to the match officials, he is given marching orders to the dressing room.

Could someone let me know what disciplinary actions are being taken by the respective body against a referee who makes a blunder when, for example, he denies a sure penalty that was witnessed by all spectators at the stadium and was also acknowledged by the opposing supporters.

It is most unfair and unjust, to say the least.
