Open Day at historic properties

Din l-Art Helwa, the National Trust of Malta, will be holding an Open Day in its historic properties in Malta, Gozo and Comino today. Volunteers will be welcoming visitors and will escort the public round the sites. Admission will be free of charge but donations towards Din l-Art Helwa’s restoration projects, which guarantee the maintenance of the buildings, will be most welcome. The times of openings are as follows:

• Fortifications: St Agatha Tower (The Red Tower) Mellieha: 10am-5pm;

• Wignacourt Tower, St Paul’s Bay: 10.30 am-12.30 pm; 2.30-4.30pm;

• Torri Mamo, Limits of Marsascala: 10am-1pm; 2.30-4.30pm.

• Santa Marija Tower, Comino, and Comino Battery: 10.30am-4pm;

• St Lawrence Tower, Dwejra, Gozo: 10am-1pm; 2.30-4.30pm.

• Chapels and Garden of Rest: St Roque, Main Street, Zebbug: 9am-noon;

4-5.30pm.

• Santa Maria of Bir Miftuh, outside Luqa Airport: 10am-1pm; 2.30

4.30pm.

• Chapel of the Annunciation at Hal Millieri, take the first right hand turn

after leaving the Blue Grotto Avenue Fountain roundabout outside

Zurrieq, or down Diamond Jubilee Square on the Mqabba Bypass take

the second turning to the right: 10am-1pm.

• Msida Bastion Historic Garden of Rest, take the second fork right after

the public library on Great Siege Road, Floriana. 9.30am-1pm; 2.30-4.30pm.

Din l-Art Helwa hopes that members of the public will avail themselves of this opportunity to explore and enjoy Malta and Gozo’s rich and unique historic heritage.
