MUT officials and MCAST's top management yesterday had a very cordial meeting with the intention of resolving the impasse which had led to a declaration of a trade dispute and industrial action at the College.

The MUT and MCAST addressed a number of issues that were of concern to both parties and are satisfied that adequate ground now exists for the way forward. In the circumstances the union is therefore calling off the industrial action planned for tomorrow.

The MUT and MCAST hope that the preliminary understanding and agreement reached serve to pave the way for a satisfactory collective agreement whereby the interest of all MCAST academic staff is taken into account for the benefit of MCAST's students.
