Malta Independent Friday, 12 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

An elderly man was knocked down by a car yesterday, was offered assistance by the occupants who then took him to a garage where they bound him, robbed him and burgled his house.

The police said they were informed of a burglary at a house in Triq il-Kannizzata, Marsascala, at about 7.30am.

They went on site where preliminary investigations showed that the 68-year old man alleged that as he was walking in the street he was hit by a car and ended on the road. The man said the car’s occupants offered their assistance and helped him into the vehicle.

He said they then took him to a garage where he was bound. Money was stolen from his person, together with the key to his house from where two shotguns, an antique pistol and cash were stolen.

The police did not explain how far the garage was from the man’s house, or how the man made his way home.

Duty magistrate Dr A. Demicoli was informed and appointed experts to help her in an inquiry.
