Exhibition Of abstract paintings

Barbara O’Brien is presenting her first solo art exhibition of abstract paintings. These works are a warm light which allow the painter to communicate at different levels from extreme depths to light-hearted and joyful tones. These abstract paintings are a journey of emotions, through the fusion of different hues of colour and textures entirely in acrylic paint.

The artist is intrigued by the marriage of colours and the merger of different techniques. The intertwining of all these aspects allows the communication of the innermost thoughts and the perspective by which the painter views her subjects. This journey starts with the very basics, having her first solo exhibition entitled “The Elements in Me”, which will be held at Gallerija Couvre Porte in Vittoriosa and will be open to the public from 20 October till 30 November. Opening hours are from 9am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday and also 7pm to 9pm Wednesday to Sunday.

Water, air, fire and earth are the core of our surroundings and the foundations of many a concept. The exhibition will showcase a number of works featuring singular elements separately as well as a union of two or more of these four essential elements.

The works feature a collection named “Pieces of Sky”, expressions of fire and displays of seas and waves. Rainbows are also explored in these works and at times they are found to be incorporated into different elements. Earth is also portrayed through its fruits in the form of floral images and tones which recall mother earth.

The elements are presented as the artist perceives them and not necessarily in their entirety. At times it is only a part which is depicted, the part which intrigues and captures her attention the most. The works have a certain flow to them and compel the eye to explore every single detail of the painting.
