Following its election at the 2007 General Meeting, the council of the Malta Amateur Wrestling Federation made a number of appointments and drew up its competitive programme for the 2007-08 season.

Pawlu Farrugia who has returned to the Council after an absence of three years was given the post of Vice President while Manuel Cilia is again the assistant Secretary General. On the other hand Jesmond Giordimaina and Abraham Vassallo were again appointed national coach and youth director respectively for the coming two years. Dr. Peter Borg Costanzi LL.D. was confirmed Legal Consultant and Dr. Kirill Micallef Stafrace M.D Medical Consultant.

The National Club and Individual Championships 2007 are scheduled for Sunday 18 November at the main hall of the Naxxar Boys Secondary starting at 10am. The British Airways Youth League consisting of four tournaments will be held at the Gym also at the same school. The dates are 13 January, 9 March, 11 May and 8 June all in 2008. They all start at 10am on Sundays.

The MAWF intends participating in a number of international tournaments abroad if funds are available. These could be Kruibeke in Belgium for Juniors and Cadets, Madrid Grand Prix, Spain, and/or Sheffield International, England, both for seniors and naturally the Sicilian Grand Prix in Palermo, an event open to all ages. However, there could be changes according to prevailing situations.

The Malta Amateur Wresting Federation will continue with its current policy regarding training boys and youths as it is passing through a period of transition when boys and youths will eventually be taking the place of those seniors retiring from active wrestling. The federation has a number of qualified coaches who could make beginners become competitive wrestlers. This policy is already bearing fruit as seen when a number of cadets won medals in two international tournaments abroad this year.
