A paraglider was in a critical condition yesterday after a gust of wind lifted him off the ground and threw him into a tree.
The incident took place at about 3pm in Armier. In a statement, the police said that the man, a 29-year-old from Bulgaria, was readying his graft to go for glide. However, a gust of wind lifted him off the ground and slammed him into a tree and then onto the roof of a nearby building. A paramedic team rushed him to Casualty where doctors certified that he was on the critical list. Duty magistrate Lawrence Quintano ordered an onsite inquiry.
