The UHM’s health and safety committee welcomed the agreement the union has reached with Education Minister Louis Galea about occupational health and safety.

It said effective measures were decided on at a meeting between the two sides, which will promote health and safety at work.

They include the “immediate” employment of more inspectors and the introduction of stiffer penalties for abuses against health and safety legislation.
