Milly, Molly Books now in Maltese

Malta Independent Sunday, 2 December 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Milly, Molly series of books are written for children up to the age of nine. The books relate the adventures of two little girls from different ethnic backgrounds, along with their multi-cultural friends. All the books promote the acceptance of diversity and the teaching of life-skills, captured in a simple motto: We may look different but we feel the same.

Within each story there is a message with a value such as honesty, responsibility, tenacity, kindness, self-sufficiency, acceptance of difference, to name but a few, all of which are beautifully depicted in words and illustrations for young book lovers.

The first four of these books are being published by Uptrend Publishing in Maltese together with their original English version. The books are Milly, Molly and Special Friends, Milly, Molly and the Mountain, Milly, Molly and the Sunhat and Milly, Molly and the Wind.

Each book has a Teachers’ and Parents’ guide both in Maltese and in English. This guide is ideal to stimulate discussions in class or at home and serves to help the children use their imagination as well as their memory. The bottom line is always the acceptance of diversity both in ideas and appearance. The books were translated by Frans A. Attard.
