Giuseppe Vaccarini, arguably the best sommelier (wine waiter) in the world, will be addressing a seminar entitled ‘‘Sommelier, Profession of the Future’, to be followed by a wine tasting session of five local wines of DOK certification.

The seminar will be held on Monday, 28 January at Le Meridian St Julian’s from 8.30am to 1.30pm.

The event is being organised by the Sommelier Association Malta in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), the Malta Tourism Authority and the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment, with the participation and support of all local wine makers.

Mr Vaccarini is an international adviser on wine and food, an expert wine taster, and an authority on the subject, who makes presentations worldwide on the profession of the sommelier.

On 26 January he will also be visiting Malta wine makers to see the range of locally grown grape wine varieties.
