A 36-year-old woman was acquitted of charges relating to usury, after the court deemed the prosecution witnesses unreliable, as they contradicted each other in their testimony.
Magistrate Miriam Hayman acquitted Doreen Magri from Valletta, after stating that she could not find the woman guilty, as it was not proven beyond reasonable doubt. The magistrate, however, added that she was morally sure that Ms Magri and the principal witness had some kind of contact.
Police Inspector Maurice Curmi prosecuted, while Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for Ms Magri.
