Political Parties appeal for prudence during electoral campaign

Malta Independent Tuesday, 5 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The two main political parties yesterday issued a joint statement, appealing to people attending political activities during the electoral campaign, to act respectfully and ensure that no accidents take place due to over-enthusiasm.

The statement, signed by PN secretary general Joe Saliba and MLP secretary general Jason Micallef, was issued following a meeting with Police Commissioner John Rizzo.

It was agreed that no open trucks and vans should be used to carry people during political activities, and derelict and scrapped vehicles will also be prohibited.

The parties also agreed that during activities held at political clubs and premises owned by the political parties, excessive noise and any form of music played after 10pm will not be allowed.

The two parties appealed to their supporters to act prudently, with tolerance and respect towards the general public.
